Job summary

The University of the Potomac seeks an Adjunct Faculty member to design and deliver engaging courses for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students, updating syllabi, outcomes, and assessment criteria. You will mentor students, provide guidance inside and outside the classroom, contribute to scholarly activities, participate in committees, and stay current with developments in the field.

In addition, you will engage with external stakeholders to foster partnerships and support student

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in the relevant field is required; a terminal degree is highly preferred.
  • Strong background in teaching and learning methodologies and higher education experience.
  • Relevant professional experience may complement the academic background.
  • Ongoing professional development and participation in workshops and conferences encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging and effective lectures, seminars, and practical sessions for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students.
  • Design and update course syllabi, learning outcomes, and assessment criteria.
  • Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students inside and outside the classroom.
  • Contribute to scholarly activities through publications, conference presentations, and related work.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and university-wide initiatives.
  • Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate records of grades and progress.
  • Stay updated with developments in the field and integrate new knowledge into teaching.
  • Engage with external stakeholders and foster partnerships to enhance the university's reputation.

They are responsible for designing and delivering courses, participating in departmental activities, and upholding the values and mission of the university. The Faculty is expected to contribute actively to the academic community and foster an environment of intellectual curiosity and growth.

Education and experience required including training, registration, and licensure

  • The candidate must hold a master’s degree in their relevant field of study.A terminal degree in the relevant field of study is highly preferred.
  • Candidates should have a strong background in teaching and learning methodologies. Prior experience in higher education institutions is preferred.
  • Depending on the discipline, candidates should have relevant professional experience to complement their academic background.
  • Ongoing professional development and participation in workshops, conferences, and other academic events are encouraged to stay up to date with advancements in the field.

Description
