Job summary

St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX seeks an adjunct instructor for ICS-1300, Intergrated College Skills, to teach assigned sections during Fall and/or Spring. Courses run 16 weeks per semester, MWF, with instruction in person and some virtual student support.

The role requires Master’s in English or related field, and at least two years of teaching experience. The instructor will administer assessments, attend weekly meetings, and maintain office hours to support students.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in English or related field.
• Minimum two years of academic teaching or teaching support experience.
• Must clear and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance.
• Must have valid driver's license, vehicle liability insurance, and personal injury insurance; or have reliable transportation to conduct business daily.
• Strong interpersonal skills to relate to diverse students and manage conflict.
• Ability to demonstrate intermediate to advanced MS Office/Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience with Zoom.
• Familiarity with Banner, EAB Navigate and/or DegreeWorks is a plus.
• Knowledge about generative AI and applications to academic instruction.
• Commitment to work collaboratively with a diverse and dynamic community.
• Ability to organize workflow, coordinate activities, balance simultaneous projects without loss of efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Attend all required training prior to commencing course instruction.
• Teach each course section following the pre-designed curriculum.
• Monitor student academic progress including grading assignments and providing feedback.
• Attend weekly IC S-1300 instructor meetings.
• Track and report all student progress to the Lead Coordinator.
• Hold a minimum of 5 office hours weekly, in person or virtually.
• Collaborate with other IC S-1300 instructors to create a consistent learning environment.
• Other duties may be assigned.
