Job description

Responsible for the operation of the GE/Concept Laser MLab, instructional laboratories, and 3D printing Additive Manufacturing test specimens.

Salary:Dependent upon grant guidelines.

  1. Responsible for the operation of the GE/Concept Laser MLab.
  2. Properly handle materials, machine setup and operation, build extraction, clean up, and inventory of all consumables.
  3. Maintain records and documentation.
  4. Prepare requested CAD files for printing, create build files for the MLab, and apply the specified parameters.
  5. Fulfill UAH graduate student work orders to build specifications.
  6. Document the outcome of the build upon completion including issues encountered or deviations from the work order.
  7. Perform other appropriate duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  1. Successfully passed the ADM 164 with a grade of “C” or higher.
  2. Ability to properly run an MLab system without assistance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  1. Strong skills in communication, organization, interpersonal, and problem solving.
  2. Skills and Knowledge of current Metal Additive manufacturing process.
  3. Ability to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  5. Willingness to work directly as a team in a lab setting.
  6. Certifications or accomplishments in the field of laboratory medicine.
  7. Sensitivity and commitment to cultural diversity.
  8. Willingness to learn and work with other occupational areas as required.
  9. Ability to write job/build reports.
  10. Ability to use safe procedure while operating Calhoun Additive Manufacturing equipment.
  11. Ability to maintain a clean lab.
  12. An understanding of the role and philosophy of the community college system.
