Avondale Villa Post-Acute in Livermore, CA seeks an Activities Assistant to organize and lead daily resident activities in alignment with care plans. The role involves group and individual activities, ensuring participation across resident levels, and documenting participation per state regulations.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and at least 6 months’ experience in a skilled nursing or similar setting, with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 months experience organizing and providing planned group activities in a skilled nursing facility or equivalent healthcare setting.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with residents and team members.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Compassionate nature with a desire to work with the elderly population.
• Basic knowledge of recreational activities suited for seniors.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Organize, implement and direct scheduled activities of a recreational, physical, educational, social and spiritual nature for residents both in groups and for individuals.
• Ensure participation of all residents and that activities offered can be applied to various levels of functioning according to recorded resident assessments.
• Perform room visitations and activities as required by schedule and / or observed resident need.
• Monitor and supervise residents at all times during activities to ensure resident safety.
• Keep clear and concise documentation on logs and in resident charts of resident participation in activities as required by state regulations and facility policy.
• Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
