Job summary

Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton, IL is looking for a part-time Activities Assistant to support residents with social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual needs.

The role involves planning, leading and evaluating activities, keeping spaces clean, tracking attendance, assisting residents to activities, and coordinating with staff and volunteers. Shifts are 3:00pm-9:00pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, plus every other weekend and a holiday rotation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with or exposure to individuals with cognitive or functional deficits preferred.
• General computer literacy.
• Willingness to work 3:00pm-9:00pm Mon/Wed/Fri and every other weekend/holiday.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lead, and evaluate activity programs for residents.
• Maintain cleanliness of activity areas and storage.
• Track residents' attendance at activities.
• Assist in developing resident goals and Care Plans.
• Help residents to and from activities and coordinate intra-facility relations.
• Supervise volunteers and provide 1-on-1 interventions as needed.
• Design bulletin boards and daily schedules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary

Implements activity services in accordance with the social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual needs of residents

Essential Job Duties

• Plans, leads, and evaluates assigned programs, at times with a focus on papering activities for residents (ex: foot soaks, nail care, hair care, and bathing)
• Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of activity room, office, and storage areas
• Tracks residents’ attendance at activities
• Participates in the development of resident goals and interventions through assessment and Care Plan process
• Aids residents to and from activity programs both internally and off-site
• Initiates and maintains intra-facility relations and communication
• Provides supervision of volunteers while engaged in activity programs
• Provides one-to-one interventions for residents as assigned or when those residents are in need of on-call attention
• Designs and upkeeps bulletin boards, resident room calendars, and daily sheets
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience with or exposure to individuals with cognitive or functional deficits preferred but not required
• General working knowledge of computers
• High energy level; expressing leadership characteristics and the ability to work independently

• High level of organization required
• Must be available to work 3:00pm-9:00pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays, as well as every other weekend and a holiday rotation.

Physical Requirements

Frequent standing, sitting, walking, pushing/pulling, bending/standing, reaching, climbing. Occasionally lifting up to 25lbs. Some exposure to potentially hazardous equipment, chemicals and infectious waste.
