Job summary

Staples is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join our Staples Accounting team in a part-time capacity (20 hours per week). The role supports month-end close and the preparation of financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, and gift card replenishment.

The position offers potential for transition to full-time based on business needs and cross-functional collaboration across Retail and NAD segments.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years accounting experience with foundational GAAP.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly journal entries and maintain a two-day close schedule.
• Analyze accounts through balance sheet reconciliation processes.
• Partner with internal teams to develop and maintain accounting processes and controls.
• Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation.
• Manage gift card stock replenishment and vendor orders.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
