Job summary

New York City FC is seeking an Academy Goalkeeper Coach (Part-Time) to contribute to development across academy age groups at St. John’s University in Queens and CFA New York in Orangeburg, NY.

You will deliver NYCFC’s coaching philosophy, support individual development plans, and work across departments to advance players within our system. A strong growth mindset and collaboration with staff are essential.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience coaching youth academy level.
  • USSF 'B or A' license – minimum (required).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work multidisciplinary in soccer.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office; PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of tactical periodization and how to implement it.
  • A growth mindset and willingness to join the team with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver daily training sessions and match preparation with the coaching staff.
  • Collaborate with academy teams and maintain stakeholder relationships.
  • Plan, deliver, and review coaching practice per NYCFC methodology.
  • Use periodization models and design practices to enhance game understanding.
  • Provide 1-to-1 player development support with feedback through Individual Development Plans.
  • Ensure adherence to Competition Guidelines and represent NYCFC positively.

JOB TITLE: Academy Goalkeeper Coach (Part-Time)
REPORTING TO: Academy Director
DEPARTMENT: Academy
LOCATION: St. John’s University (Queens, NY) & CFA New York (Orangeburg, NY)
COMPENSATION: $30-35/hour, 15 hours per week
Position Overview
As an Academy Coach you will have the responsibility to contribute to the continued development of several Academy age groups. You will be responsible for the delivery of the NYCFC coaching philosophy and supporting Individual Development Plans for the players. You will contribute to the interdisciplinary team achieving individual and team goals. It is important that you are willing and able to work together across departments and other age groups.
What You’ll Do
As an Academy coach, you are responsible for creating a learning environment, with the balance of challenges and support to each individual player. You are responsible to maximize the potential of every player through delivery of the NYCFC game model and methodology

  • Responsible for the delivery and content of all daily training sessions and match preparation together with support staff.
  • Collaborate with the other Academy teams/staff and maintain relationships with appropriate stakeholders; both internal and external.
  • Responsible for planning, delivering, and reviewing coaching practice according to the NYCFC methodology with an action orientated attitude, striving to continually improve.
  • Work from a periodization model and conduct practice designs to enhance the learning and understanding of NYCF’s game model.
  • Collaboratively work with the other Academy coaches to deliver 1-to-1 player development support through progressive Individual Development Plans with ongoing specific actionable feedback.
  • Understand and adhere to all Competition Guidelines in all entered competitions
  • Representation of NYCFC in a positive manner within all required responsibilities,
  • Responsible for the continued development and matriculation of Academy players to progress in our system.
  • Responsible for engaging, and ensuring timely input, into all the Academy platforms and software (SmartaBase, Taka, etc)
What You’ll Bring

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
