Job summary

NYCFC is seeking a Performance Analysis Intern to assist in delivering analysis services for the Academy. The role involves daily training data handling, reporting, and organizing analysis assets across pre- and post-match activities.

The intern will work with analytics tools and standard software, with a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends to align with game schedules and Academy activities.

Qualifications

  • Must have good knowledge of soccer – either as former player, coach or similar.
  • Familiarity with performance analysis software and Microsoft/Mac tools is preferred.

Position Overview

JOB TITLE: Performance Analysis Intern

REPORTING TO: Academy Technical Director

DEPARTMENT: Sporting

LOCATION: St. John’s University (Queens, NY) & CFA New York (Orangeburg, NY)

COMPENSATION: $17/hour, must be able to commit to working for the full duration of the Academy Season (August–May)

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Performance Analysis Intern is responsible for supporting the delivery of performance analysis services within NYCFC’s Academy.

What you’ll do

* Training: film, code and database daily training sessions as requested.

  • Produce biweekly and monthly training reports.
  • Pre & Post Match: create and organize analysis support assets e.g. folder structures, reports templates, etc.
  • Match day: film and basic code Academy games when required.
  • Contribute to the overall wider working and development of the Academy program.
  • Ensure the operational requirements, such as uploading game footage to the correct platforms, are fulfilled as per deadline requirements.
  • Attend all Academy, and other, meetings as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you’ll bring
  • Must have good knowledge of soccer – either as former player, coach or similar.
  • Must have proficient computer literacy skills and ability to assimilate new software and processes quickly.
  • Familiarity with major performance analysis software (Sportscode, Match Analysis, Prozone, Hudl, Taka), Microsoft software (Excel, Powerpoint) and Mac software (Keynote, iBooks Author) strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity and experience filming sporting events (ideally soccer) from a coaching perspective is preferred.
  • Have flexibility to work differing hours on a weekly basis (including evening and weekends) – as agreed each week – depending on the game and schedule of First and Academy Team.
  • Must be able to commit to working for the full duration of the Academy Season (August–May).
  • Ability to manage workload, set deadlines and priorities and utilize time management skills.
  • Have an enthusiastic approach and proactive attitude.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey messages to colleagues, coaches and players.
Additional Requirements
  • Applicant must be able to comply with applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by NYCFC.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
