Job summary

University of the Incarnate Word is seeking Peer Tutors to provide academic tutoring and writing assistance to UIW undergraduates. Tutors are assigned by discipline and report to the Director of Learning Support Services.

The role balances direct tutoring with center-related duties and workshops. Responsibilities include conducting individual and group tutoring, supporting workshops, and maintaining outreach, records, and resources.

Qualifications

• Proficient communication and explanation of concepts.

• Maintain minimum GPA of 3.0 and strong academic performance.
• Basic knowledge of standard office equipment and software.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students individually or in groups.
• Assist with workshops, exam reviews, and embedded tutoring.
• Support center tasks: outreach, record-keeping, resource creation.
• Communicate regularly with supervisor.
• Tutor writing courses with strong performance in research-based classes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
