Job summary

Del Mar College is seeking qualified instructors to join the Adult Basic Education instructor pool. The role provides part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis to support ABE and GED instruction, portfolio maintenance, and related administrative tasks.

Open to candidates with a bachelor’s degree and at least one year in adult education; grant-funded program experience is preferred. This security-sensitive, grant-funded role may involve background checks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• One year experience in adult education.
• Ability to plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/ outline provided to insure course content and objectives are met.
• Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles of students.
• Proficient in use of instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other appropriate media in instruction.

Responsibilities

• Use variety of teaching styles, methods and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles of students to achieve their educational goals and course outcomes.
• Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.
• Assess and evaluate student performance fairly, consistently, and in a timely manner.
• Plan course instruction including lesson plans based upon approved syllabus/outline provided to ensure course content and objectives are met.
