Job summary

Helwig Carbon Products, Inc. is seeking an entry-level, part-time assembler in the Milwaukee area. You will perform sensor insertion, bonding brushes, silver painting, copper coating, and wire work in a collaborative production setting.

You will read shop orders, inspect parts with basic measuring tools, and operate presses and ovens to complete carbon brush assemblies. English reading/speaking required; high school diploma preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and use inspection instruments (calipers, micrometers, protractors, ruler).
• Lift and move up to 25 pounds safely.
• Must be able to read and speak English to review shop orders.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with sensor insertion, bonding brushes, silver painting and copper coating.
• Read shop orders and inspect parts from equipment to ensure drawings/specifications.
• Operate kick press and/or punch press to install terminals on carbon brush.
• Use concave machine to place angle on carbon brush.
• Place copper wire through holes and secure with rivet.
• Seal wires, glue pads, and place in oven; remove and clean excess glue.
• Cut wire by shop order specifications and solder brush per order.
• Fit sleeve over wires and keep work area clean and organized.
• Be cross-trained to perform different duties and collaborate with production staff.

• Part-time- 4 pm- 8 pm Monday-Thursday
• Pay $17.25/ hour
• Entry Level assembly and machine operating.

Job Specifics:

• You will work with sensor insertion, bonding brushes, silver painting and copper coating.
• Read shop orders and inspect parts from various pieces of equipment to ensure compliance with established drawings and specifications.
• Work on kick press and/or punch press to install terminals on carbon brush.
• Use concave machine to place angle on carbon brush.
• Place copper wire through hole in carbon brush and secure with rivet.
• Seal wires and glue pads to carbon brush and place in oven.
• Take out of oven and clean off excess glue.
• Cut wire by specifications on shop order.
• Place copper wires through hole and secure with rivet.
• Solder brush per order specifications.
• Place sleeve (silicone cover) over wires.
• Clean/tidy your work area
• Be able to be cross trained in the department to perform different duties.
• Work with production supervisor and other department personnel in a cooperative and collaborative manner to expedite orders within the department so as to meet and exceed customer expectations in a cost-effective manner.
