Job summary

The State of South Carolina’s SCDPPPS seeks a seasoned supervisor to lead a team of Parole/Pardon Investigators in the Upstate. You will guide staff, participate in recruitment and training, and ensure timely reporting to the Director of Investigations and Examinations.

You will help develop procedures, respond to emergencies, and support special deployments as needed. A relevant degree and law enforcement experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 15 semester hours in social or behavioral science courses and experience in probation and parole work.
  • An associate’s degree and two (2) years of military or certified law enforcement experience (to include Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist experience) may be substituted; or a high school diploma and four (4) years of military or certified law enforcement experience (to include Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist experience) may be substituted.
  • Certification by the Law Enforcement Training Council in accordance with 23-23-40 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising the completion of parole and pardon investigations in the Upstate area.
  • Provide direction, guidance and coaching to staff.
  • Assist with the recruitment of section personnel through recruitment, interviewing of prospective Parole/Pardon Investigators, and promotional opportunities when appropriate.
  • Participates in training new Parole/Pardon Investigators.
  • Submits reports to the Director of Investigations and Examinations.
  • Assists in developing, implementing and evaluating operating procedures within the section.
  • Participates in special law enforcement deployments as ordered by the Department during times of emergency or disasters.
