Job summary

ND Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is seeking a Parole and Probation Officer to supervise parolees and probationers, develop case plans, and coordinate with courts, law enforcement, and service providers. The role balances public safety with rehabilitation goals in western North Dakota.

Location options include Watford City or Williston. A $4,000 sign-on bonus applies, with the recruitment bonus paid in two installments. Telework is not offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (preferred) in behavioral science, education, business, or related field plus three years in a relevant setting; or
• Associate's degree with five years of related work experience.
• Must be licensable as a North Dakota Peace Officer and pass background checks.
• Must pass the Critical Task Assessment (CTA) and complete ND POST training.
• Must have a valid Class D driver's license.

The ND DOCR Division of Parole, Probation, & Pretrial Services has an exciting opportunity for a Parole and Probation Officer. Every day, Parole and Probation Officers help individuals succeed after incarceration while protecting the communities they serve. Recruitment bonuses are paid in two installments: half at the time of hire and the other half after completing one year of employment with the DOCR. New hires coming directly from another state agency or current DOCR employees are not eligible for the recruitment bonus. This position is not eligible for telework.

This position can be located in Watford City or Williston, ND. Must be able to travel back and forth between offices as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Parole & Probation Officer II

• Bachelor's degree (preferred) in behavioral science, education, business, or related field with three years of work experience in a corrections, law enforcement, social work, education, or behavioral health setting, or
• Associate's degree with five years of experience
• Must be licensable as a North Dakota Peace Officer
• Must pass the Critical Task Assessment (CTA)
• Must complete ND POST-recognized basic peace officer training
• Valid Class D driver's license
• Successful background investigation and criminal record check

Parole & Probation Officer I

• Bachelor's degree (preferred) in behavioral science, education, business, or related field or
• Associate's degree with two years of work experience
• Eligibility for ND Peace Officer licensure
• Valid Class D driver's license
• Successful background investigation and criminal record check
