Job summary

Montgomery County, Tennessee's Parks & Recreation department is seeking a dedicated worker to maintain parks and recreation areas, ensuring a clean and safe environment for staff and the public. The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and the ability to operate maintenance equipment.

Starting hourly rate is $18.67. Evening/weekend work and some holidays may be required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of grounds and general maintenance practices.
• Public customer service and safety awareness.
• Ability to operate and maintain basic landscape equipment.
• Reading and following manuals and safety instructions.

Responsibilities

• Performs inspections on trails and parks and prioritizes maintenance needs.
• Prepares season opening and closing for assigned areas.
• Repairs fences, benches, signs, shelters, and other structures.
• Maintains trails, removes vegetation, and plants new trees or grass.
• Performs landscape maintenance including edging, mulching, weeding, and watering.
• Keeps restrooms and recreation areas clean and in good order.
• Maintains records of maintenance activities and labor.
• Operates equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and pressure washers.
• Adheres to safety regulations and reports accidents promptly.
• Works evenings, weekends, special events and some holidays.
