Job summary

The City of Fairfield's Parks and Recreation Department seeks a dedicated Parks & Recreation Superintendent to oversee operations of the community arts center, golf courses, aquatic center, historic mansion, events, and other programs, coordinating with the Parks & Recreation Director. The role requires some weekend and evening work and leadership across multiple divisions.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s in Recreation Administration or related field, with at least two years in recreation

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration, Leisure Studies or related field.
Two years of professional experience in the recreation/leisure field, with a minimum of three years in a supervisory position.
CPRP certification preferred.
Strong leadership and managerial skills, effective oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and creativity.
Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Recruit, supervise, and train full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff across multiple divisions
Create, deliver, market and manage programs, activities, events
Budget management
Data collection, analysis and reporting
Maintenance of recreational facilities and systems
Risk management of department operations
Assist with department strategic planning, CAPRA re-certification, Capital Improvement Program, and construction projects
Work with various boards and commissions
Coordinate with other City Departments
Other duties as assigned
