Job summary

The City of Hialeah is seeking a Service Worker to perform a wide range of manual labor tasks in Parks and Recreation and city facilities. Responsibilities include routine repairs, sidewalk work, facility checks, and basic equipment operation.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, at least 12 months of manual labor experience, and a Florida driver’s license. Prospective hires must obtain a Class B CDL with air brakes and an N endorsement within six months.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school/institution or GED and twelve months experience in performing unskilled, light, or heavy manual labor.
• Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
• Current valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
• Within six months of having taken the Civil Service Exam, a Florida Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License valid for air brakes and an “N” Endorsement must be obtained.

Responsibilities

• Conducts routine repairs and maintenance on irrigation systems.
• Forms and pours new sidewalks and makes streets repairs.
• Conducts facility checks at Parks and Recreation locations.
• Maintains Parks and Recreation general fields.
• Paints City facilities both exterior and interior.
• Cleans city facilities and loads/unloads materials.
• Operates light equipment and carries out basic construction related tasks.
