Job summary

City of Muskogee is seeking a Parks and Recreation Maintenance Leader I to supervise a crew in performing varied maintenance and renovation tasks on City properties. This role involves leading horticulture and general maintenance work, operating a range of tools and equipment, and ensuring safety and compliance during outdoor projects.

The position encompasses outdoor work in all weather, occasional overtime, and reporting to the Parks and Recreation Maintenance Leader II.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of maintenance experience as trades helper or laborer.
Experience leading or coordinating a crew in maintenance work.
Knowledge of horticulture and maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

Oversees and operates hand tools, power tools, light trucks, tractors and small equipment.
Maintains park areas; cleans restrooms and office areas.
Oversees repair and maintenance of parks, fences, playground equipment, sports fields and irrigation.
Leads horticulture and maintenance tasks including pruning, trimming, planting and pesticide/herbicide application.
Performs special events setup.
Digs ditches, lays pipe, installs and repairs valves.
Performs other assigned duties.
Must report on a regular and timely basis.
