Job summary

City of Steamboat Springs is seeking a Director of Parks and Recreation to provide executive leadership for the city’s extensive parks, trails, and recreation facilities, including major venues like Howelsen Hill and Bear River Park. You will guide annual budgets, strategic planning, and cross‑department collaboration to maintain stewardship and accessibility of public assets.

The role requires a Bachelor's in a related field and several years of supervisory leadership, with CPRP certification

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Parks/Recreation Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field.
• Seven years of progressively responsible experience in parks and recreation programs including three years of supervisory experience at a management level.
• Master’s degree and CPRP certification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the Parks & Recreation system including 31 park sites and major facilities.
• Direct budgeting, planning and performance across diverse operations.
• Represent the department on city leadership teams and partnerships.
