Responsibilities

• Performs turf maintenance on parks and sports fields including mowing and edging.
• Maintains grounds and custodial duties such as cleaning locker rooms and restrooms, trash removal, and minor repairs as needed.
• Operates and maintains grounds maintenance equipment and vehicles; replaces bulbs and performs basic plumbing, carpentry, painting tasks as required.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for parks and grounds maintenance including landscaping and custodial duties.

Major Duties

• Performs turf maintenance activities at soccer, football, baseball, and softball fields;
• pulverizes and smooths baseball infields; aerates fields; applies herbicides and pesticides as needed.
• Performs landscaping tasks such as cutting grass, weed-eating, and operating field sprinkler system.
• Maintains scoreboards.
• Maintains ball fields by cutting grass, applying lines to fields, and picking up trash.
• Maintains the grounds at county facilities by cutting grass, trimming trees and hedges, and
• edging lawns.
• Performs all custodial duties assigned including but not limited to cleaning locker rooms,
• vacuuming floors, cleaning of ball field restrooms.
• Performs routine maintenance on grounds maintenance equipment and vehicles, including
• checking fluid levels, replacing blades, and performing minor repairs.
• Replaces light bulbs in department offices and at ball fields and tennis courts.
• Performs plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical work as needed.
• Removes trash from parks.
• May operate concession stand as needed.
• Completes special assignments off campus as instructed by supervisor.
• Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the department.

Minimum Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

The successful candidate must pass a Background/Reference Check, and Pre-Employment Drug Screenings prior to the start of employment.
