Position: Parks Maintenance Worker (FT) Department: Facilities Management Starting Salary: $16.07/hour FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Posting Date: September 3, 2026 Closing Date: September 17, 2026
Job Summary
This position is responsible for parks and grounds maintenance including landscaping and custodial duties.
Major Duties
- Performs turf maintenance activities at soccer, football, baseball, and softball fields;
- pulverizes and smooths baseball infields; aerates fields; applies herbicides and pesticides as needed.
- Performs landscaping tasks such as cutting grass, weed-eating, and operating field sprinkler system.
- Maintains scoreboards.
- Maintains ball fields by cutting grass, applying lines to fields, and picking up trash.
- Maintains the grounds at county facilities by cutting grass, trimming trees and hedges, and
- edging lawns.
- Performs all custodial duties assigned including but not limited to cleaning locker rooms,
- vacuuming floors, cleaning of ball field restrooms.
- Performs routine maintenance on grounds maintenance equipment and vehicles, including
- checking fluid levels, replacing blades, and performing minor repairs.
- Replaces light bulbs in department offices and at ball fields and tennis courts.
- Performs plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical work as needed.
- Removes trash from parks.
- May operate concession stand as needed.
- Completes special assignments off campus as instructed by supervisor.
- Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the department.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
The successful candidate must pass a Background/Reference Check, and Pre-Employment Drug Screenings prior to the start of employment.
