Job summary

Genesee County is seeking a park maintenance worker to perform semi-skilled tasks across multiple parks. You will operate light equipment, vacuum porta-johns, collect waste, and assist in building repairs under supervision.

Required: 1 year in park maintenance or 6 months seasonal experience; valid Michigan CDL-B with air brake and tank endorsement; willingness to work weekends, holidays, and irregular hours; willingness to wear the prescribed uniform.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in building, grounds or equipment maintenance or operation of a vacuum truck.
• Six (6) months of seasonal parks maintenance experience.
• Must possess a valid unrestricted Michigan driver's license with CDL-B with air brake and tank endorsement and good driving record within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Vacuums porta-johns and vault toilets in all Parks facilities
• Gathers refuse and rubbish from park areas
• Assists in making minor repairs to buildings and equipment
• Performs routine custodial work in park buildings and equipment
• Performs semi-skilled duties in the construction and repair of park projects

Starting Pay: $22.2553 Hourly ($46,291)
Step A: $22.8577 Hourly ($47,544)
Step B: $23.5601 Hourly ($49,005)

Step E: $25.4370 Hourly ($52,909)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

One (1) year of experience in building, grounds or equipment maintenance or operation of a vacuum truck;

-OR-

Six (6) months of seasonal parks maintenance experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid unrestricted Michigan driver's license with CDL-B with air brake and tank endorsement and good driving record within six (6) months of employment. Failure to obtain such certification shall be just cause for termination of employment.

Must be willing to work weekends, holidays and irregular hours.

Must be courteous in dealing with the general public and fellow staff members.

Must be willing to wear prescribed work uniform.
