Job summary

City of Dallas is seeking a Parks Maintenance Worker I to perform un-skilled and low-skilled labor in cleaning, maintenance, care, and repair of parks, playgrounds, facilities, and landscaping within the Parks and Recreation Department.

Essential duties include mowing, trash collection, tool operation, material transport, and safety-focused work to support public spaces and community infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of equipment and tools used in various construction repairs.
• Maintaining and operating hand and power tools.
• Knowledge and understanding of safety procedures.
• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to perform labor for extended periods of time.
• Establishing and maintaining strong relationships.

Responsibilities

• Performs a wide range of low skilled labor for parks and recreation maintenance, including mowing and landscaping, trash collection, and cleaning of facilities and grounds.
• Loads and unloads tools, materials, and equipment for repairs.
• Drives equipment to transport tools and supplies to work sites and locations.
• Ensures playground and public equipment is safe and functional; performs repairs to meet standards.
• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Provides customer service and handles hazardous situations professionally.
