Job Title

Parks Maintenance Technician

Location

City of Collinsville

Position Details

This is a full-time, hourly position reporting directly to the Superintendent of Parks and Open Spaces. The technician will perform skilled and semi-skilled duties in maintenance of City-owned properties and equipment, including landscaping, horticulture, playground and athletic field maintenance, and lake upkeep. The role may involve leading a team of part-time or seasonal employees.

Key Responsibilities

1. Maintain and enhance parks and recreational facilities, including turf, athletic fields, and landscaping.
2. Operate various motor vehicle equipment and tools such as trucks, tractors, chainsaws, and pumps.
3. Maintain cleanliness of parks, including restroom cleaning, trash disposal, graffiti removal, and general upkeep.
4. Perform construction tasks like painting, playground and picnic table construction, landscaping, and tree work.
5. Perform snow and ice removal as needed.

Work Environment

Work is primarily outdoors, exposed to weather extremes and chemicals. Schedule may include night and weekend work during peak seasons and events.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience and training in maintenance work.
• Valid driver's license; criminal background check required.
• Preferred: Pesticide applicator/operator license, CPSI, turf management knowledge.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting at $40,705.60/year, with overtime eligibility. Benefits include health, dental, vision, prescription coverage, pension, disability, student loan forgiveness, vacation, personal days, sick hours, tuition reimbursement, and holidays.
