Job summary

The City of Plantation Parks Department seeks a supervisory maintenance worker to lead crews in municipal park and building upkeep, landscaping, irrigation, and related tasks. This role requires planning work, assigning personnel, and ensuring safe, efficient operations in all weather conditions.

Applicants must have a high school diploma and at least three years of experience in horticulture, landscape, grounds, or parks, plus a Florida driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; supplemented by a minimum of 3 years of experience in work involving horticulture, nursery, landscape, grounds, and/or parks; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Valid State of Florida driver’s license.
• LiveScan Background Screening required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and participates in field maintenance, custodial duties, and landscaping of parks and municipal buildings.
• Plans work, assigns personnel, and secures tools, equipment, supplies and materials.
• Prepares daily worklists and weekly personnel schedules.
• Executes purchase orders and enforces safety procedures.
• Maintains irrigation systems and performs related repairs.
• Directs hurricane plan execution and oversees equipment safety.
• Interviews candidates and makes recommendations on hiring, transfers, and terminations.
