Job summary

Summary

Maintenance Worker, under the general supervision of the Foreman, performs maintenance of park landscaping and general park maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists the Horticulture Crew Lead in the proper maintenance of landscaped areas.
• Inspects, repairs, and maintains playground fixtures, signage, pavilions, trash cans and other park amenities.
• Occasionally spray herbicides or apply fertilizer under direct supervision of a licensed applicator.
• Assists with preparation of special events to include set-up, staging, and clean-up.
• Performs and documents regular vehicle and equipment inspections.
• Assists with the planting, transplanting, and establishment of ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees, including proper planting techniques, watering, and initial care.
• Removes litter, landscape debris, fallen limbs, and other unwanted materials from landscaped areas and assigned work sites.
• Completes and submits required paperwork in Maint Trac.
• Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One (1) year of experience in landscaping, horticulture, or related field

Certification and License Requirements

• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience in landscape/horticulture field
• Prior experience operating basic landscaping equipment including truck, trailer, pruning and power equipment
