Qualifications

  • High School Education/GED required.
  • Emergency Personnel 1 year+ experience in building and/or grounds maintenance.
  • Preferred knowledge of park operations and/or maintenance procedures.
  • Preferred knowledge of vehicle and equipment maintenance procedures.
  • Experience working with hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to operate assigned maintenance equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Texas driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects facilities and prepares status reports; maintains daily logs and payroll data.
  • May require 24-hour on-call duty and assists in budgeting and policy development.

General Description

This position directs and oversees the daily operations of the Parks Facility Maintenance Division, including all maintenance, repair, and construction activities.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class.
  • Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
  • Coordinates the purchase and delivery of supplies for the Park Facility Maintenance Division; monitors existing inventory.
  • Directs and oversees the maintenance, repair, and construction activities of the department.
  • Review work performed by park facility maintenance technician employees with regard to current projects; provides advice and assistance as requested or required.
  • Handles/schedules all work orders for future projects.
  • Inspects facilities; prepares status reports.
  • Tracks and reports time and material expenses for each project.
  • Maintains daily work logs for employees, vehicle maintenance reports, itinerary forms, and employee payroll.
  • Generates reports detailing progress on current projects and outlining future projects.
  • May require 24-hour on-call duty.
  • Assists in developing and administering annual budgets.
  • Hires, trains, assigns, directs, supervises, and evaluates personnel.
  • Responsible for tracking inventory of supplies.
  • Monitors contractor activities.
  • Attends departmental meetings.
  • Assists in the development of department policies.
  • Able to report regularly for work and be on time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • High School Education/GED Essential
  • Emergency Personnel 1 year+ experience in building and/or grounds maintenance
  • Preferred knowledge of park operations and/or and maintenance procedures.
  • Preferred knowledge of vehicle and equipment maintenance procedures
  • Experience working with hand and power tools
  • Must be able to operate assigned maintenance equipment
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Texas for the operation of vehicles
