Job summary

The City of South Burlington is seeking a Parks Maintenance Worker to support parks and recreation facilities. The role involves general maintenance, mowing, debris clearing, and assisting with the construction or repair of infrastructure as needed.

You will operate a range of equipment, including mowers, weed whackers, chainsaws, and tractors, and assist in snow and ice management, custodial duties, and event setup. Strong safety and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; two years in parks, landscaping, or public works maintenance.
• CDL B with tanker endorsement or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

• Perform parks maintenance tasks including mowing, debris removal, and site repairs.
• Operate equipment such as mowers, weed whackers, chainsaws, and tractors.
• Assist with snow and ice management (plows, sander, spreader).
• Perform janitorial duties in parks and facilities.
• Assist with events setup and post-event cleanup.
• Maintain time logs and coordinate with Public Works and other departments.
• Support emergency Public Works activities if needed.
• Follow safety procedures and communicate effectively.
