Job summary

Darke County Park District is seeking a Maintenance Operations Assistant Manager to oversee general and preventative maintenance, groundskeeping, habitat maintenance, and public support at district facilities.

Under supervision, you will supervise PT/seasonal staff and volunteers, coordinate with other departments, and ensure safe, clean, and well‑maintained parks for environmental learning and recreation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Minimum two years of building maintenance and repair experience.
• Must pass Ohio BCI&I criminal background.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assists with managing and maintaining various facilities, structures, and systems with an emphasis on sustainable building practices.
• Maintains natural habitats, including prairie, wetland, forest, meadow, and riparian areas.
• Oversees part-time, seasonal, and court-ordered workers daily.
• Maintains vehicles, equipment, and power/tools; operates hauling rig for larger equipment.
• Performs maintenance tasks in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and related areas.
• Supports district needs outside assigned subject area, including special events and programming.
