Job summary

The City of O'Fallon is seeking a Parks Maintenance Worker I to care for our parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, and green spaces year-round. This full-time role focuses on grooming fields, mowing, trimming, and maintaining park facilities to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for residents and visitors.

You will work with a team, follow safety procedures, and may need evening or weekend shifts. A High school diploma or GED and valid CDL Class A are required; CDL training is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1–3 years of groundskeeping/parks maintenance experience preferred.
• Valid Class A CDL (or ability to obtain one) with paid CDL training available.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Grooming and prepping athletic fields for games and tournaments.
• Mowing, trimming, seeding, and turf maintenance of park areas.
• Maintain park restrooms, pavilions, and playgrounds for public safety.
• Assist with irrigation, minor construction projects, and playground inspections.
• Operate mowers, backhoes, dump trucks, and skid steers.
• Support special events, festivals, and snow removal operations.
