Job summary

The City of O'Fallon, MO is seeking a Maintenance Worker I - Streets to support the Street Department in keeping city streets and related infrastructure in good repair.

The role features daytime hours, potential winter shifts, and opportunities to learn concrete/maintenance skills while working with a team. CDL training is provided for new hires without a CDL, with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid CDL (Class A with Tanker Endorsement).
• Paid CDL training program available for new hires without CDL.

Responsibilities

• Assist with concrete removal and repair, finish concrete and patch asphalt.
• Set up safe work zones with the crew.

Our Maintenance Worker I positions earn competitive hourly rates from $24.74 to $37.11 (top of grade). Your first year you can expect to make a starting rate of $24.74.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A MAINTENANCE WORKER I - STREETS

As part of our Street Department, you will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of city streets and related infrastructure. Generally, your schedule will be daytime hours Monday through Friday, with required shifts during winter street clearing events.

Other duties and responsibilities include:

• Assisting with concrete removal and repair, including finishing concrete, patching asphalt and repairing sidewalks.
• Setting up safe work zones with your assigned crew.
• Operating a variety of equipment, including dump trucks, backhoes, concrete saws, street sweepers, and chain saws.
• Transporting equipment and supplies to and from job sites.
• Repairing damages caused by construction projects or snow removal.
• Performing preventative maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment

We're looking for someone who has the desire to build and expand their knowledge of basic principles and practices used in the construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, storm sewers and facilities. While experience in working with concrete is definitely a plus, applicants with a willingness to learn new skills are encouraged to apply. Individuals who succeed in this position can be relied upon to perform their daily tasks in varying weather conditions, including inclement weather. In addition, this person can expect to be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease and machinery with moving parts that requires the use of protective devices such as high visibility clothing, goggles, gloves, and other personal protective equipment (PPE).
