Job summary

The City of Aurora is seeking a dedicated Parks Irrigation Specialist to oversee maintenance, repair, and operation of complex irrigation systems across city parks. The role emphasizes water management, GIS-assisted diagnostics, and collaboration with a team to keep landscapes healthy and vibrant.

Applicants should have a HS diploma, 2+ years in maintenance and 1+ year irrigation experience, and licenses including a CDL with airbrakes/tanker within 6 months.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Two years of maintenance experience and at least one year irrigation experience.
• Licenses and certifications: Class B CDL with airbrakes and tanker endorsement within 6 months; reuse water training within 12 months; cross-connection control and backflow prevention device tester certifications within 12 months; pesticide license in Golf Division within 12 months.
• Knowledge of irrigation maintenance and water conservation principles; intermediate computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on irrigation systems (mainline, lateral, heads, valves, controllers, pumps).
• Repair PVC, brass, copper, ductile, HDPE and stainless-steel pipe (1/2 inch to 8 inch).
• Use GIS equipment/software and perform system tests and diagnostics.
• Maintain records and inventories; assist in bids for purchasing; train and supervise others as needed.
