Job summary

Arapahoe County Open Spaces is seeking an Irrigation Specialist to manage and improve landscape irrigation across parks, athletic fields, and agricultural sites. You will troubleshoot central controllers, perform maintenance, and apply water-conservation practices to ensure reliable water delivery.

The role requires strong knowledge of turf management, GIS tools, and safety practices, with opportunities to support events and snow removal as part of the operations team.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of irrigation principles, maintenance, and repair.
• Experience with GPS/GIS and evapotranspiration data for field management.
• Awareness of turf/landscape management best practices and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain irrigation systems for parks and agricultural sites, including repairs.
• Troubleshoot pumps, controllers, and electrical issues; operate central control clocks.
• Perform routine maintenance on irrigation clocks, lines, pumps, and pivots.
• Read irrigation plans and input for new installations in coordination with planning staff.
• Manage water rights permits and report meter readings as required.
• Support snow removal, events, and general field operations as needed.
