Job summary

Mt. Prospect Park District is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Laborer for Thursday and Friday, a part‑time, year‑round role with potential for evenings or weekends. You will perform routine park and facility maintenance and drive district vehicles, with a starting pay of $16.00 per hour.

Facilities privileges are available to employees. The Laborer will support the Grounds Department under the manager, performing general upkeep, equipment operation, and athletic field maintenance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age
• Valid driver’s license (Illinois Class C if requested)
• Effective communication skills for work coordination and emergencies
• Ability to operate small equipment
• Basic knowledge of common hand and power tools
• Ability to work without supervision
• Participation in Park District safety training program and adherence to safety procedures

Responsibilities

• Operate small equipment
• Perform general park maintenance and cleanup
• Assist with building and grounds maintenance
• Maintain athletic fields
• Provide general assistance to maintenance staff
• Carry out any duty related to the physical operation of the Park District
• Participate in winter snow removal and ice‑making operations as needed
• Respond personally for emergency night and weekend jobs when contacted
• Participate in the Park District Safety Training program and abide by policies and procedures
• Work special events, nights, and weekends as required
• Collaborate with other departments under supervision to accomplish special tasks
• Perform additional functions as assigned, which may be considered essential
• Perform other duties as required in an emergency
