Job summary

Mt. Prospect Park District is seeking a full-time Grounds Maintenance Laborer to perform routine maintenance of parks and facilities under the direction of the Grounds Department Manager. The role requires a valid driver’s license, ability to pass background checks, a pre-employment physical, and a drug screen.

Starting pay is $18.00 per hour with a generous benefits package. Essential duties include operating equipment, maintaining tools, landscaping, and general park maintenance.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school graduate or GED.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and obtain IL Class C within 6 months; Class A CDL if requested.
• Must be able to operate small equipment and power tools.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively for safety and coordination.
• Must participate in safety trainings and adhere to policies.
• Regular and reliable attendance is essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate small and large equipment.
• Maintain and repair tools and equipment.
• Perform general park maintenance and cleanliness.
• Carry out landscaping tasks.
• Support building and grounds maintenance.
• Assist skilled staff as needed.
• Be available for emergency night and weekend tasks and safety trainings.
