Job summary

City of Lakeland is seeking a semi-skilled maintenance worker to care for city-owned properties and park facilities. The role involves heavy manual labor, operating hand and power tools, and performing basic repairs under supervision.

You will help maintain athletic complexes, playgrounds, and streetscapes across the city. The position requires routine record-keeping, public interaction, and flexibility for overtime or special projects.

Qualifications

• Must complete eight school grades.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Must obtain Florida-Friendly Best Management Practices for Protection of Water Resources by the Green Industries certification within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains restrooms at City parks.
• Maintains daily maintenance records.
• Removes trash from City parks.
• Maintains Major League Baseball complex year-round.
• Maintains large public athletic complexes.
• Installs park amenities throughout the City.
• Performs routine grounds and road right-of-way maintenance; cuts grass with power mowers; trims shrubs and small trees; rakes leaves.
