Job summary

County of Chester, South Carolina seeks a Parks and Recreation Technician to maintain facilities, grounds, and ball fields at Chester County sports complexes.

The role requires 1–3 years in grounds maintenance, a High School Diploma or GED, and a valid driver's license. Must be able to lift heavy objects and work outdoors in varying weather; CPR/First Aid within 6 months is a plus. On-site work with possible weekends and on-call duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and 1–3 years of grounds and parks maintenance experience.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, operate equipment, and perform strenuous outdoor work.
• Valid driver’s license required; CPR/First Aid within 6 months of hire.
• Good writing and oral communication; ability to follow written and spoken instructions.

Responsibilities

• Mow and maintain grounds, open spaces, and parks.
• Perform routine maintenance on lawn and power equipment.
• Plant and maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers.
• Prepare and maintain ball fields to required standards.
• Operate tractors, mowers, trucks and other equipment as needed.
• Follow safety rules, attend trainings, and report hazards or incidents.
• Maintain regular attendance and adapt to varied shifts including weekends or on-call.
• Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
