Job summary

Wilmette Park District is seeking a Parks Laborer to perform general labor in maintenance, repair and construction of the parks. You will operate heavy equipment, plant and maintain landscaping, install and repair athletic structures, and assist with playgrounds to keep the park system safe and attractive.

The role requires the ability to write reports, follow safety procedures, and work Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with seasonal hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Class D driver's license.
• Illinois Pesticide Operator license or ability to obtain within one year.
• CPR/First Aid certificates within three months of hiring.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment, trucks, tractors, and landscaping equipment.
• Plant and maintain landscaping.
• Install, repair, and paint athletic structures such as fields, goals, and fences.
• Assist with the installation and maintenance of playgrounds.
• Write reports, including inspection forms, in a timely manner.
• Apply pesticides.
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots.
• Perform preventive maintenance on small-engine equipment.
