Job summary

City of Lincoln Park is seeking a Part Time Laborer for Parks Maintenance to perform routine manual labor in city parks and facilities. The role involves outdoor work across parks, playgrounds, and pathways, with responsibilities including restroom upkeep, equipment operation, and seasonal maintenance.

Ideal candidates will be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work in varying weather, and follow safety protocols while using common tools and equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or G.E.D.
• Legally employable in the United States
• 18 years of age or older
• Valid State of Michigan Drivers License
• Ability to pass written examination, physical agility and skills test, physical with drug screen and fingerprint/criminal history/driving record check

Responsibilities

• Opening and closing of restrooms at public parks
• Cleaning and stocking of park restrooms
• Operation of a variety of power tools, including mowers, blowers, trimmers, etc.
• Performs ice and snow control activities
• Keeps streets, walkways, sidewalks, etc clear of debris, including the emptying of trash/recycling cans/bins
• Lawn and landscape maintenance including cutting and edging grass, laying sod, raking leaves, planting, weeding, watering and care for trees, shrubs and flowers
• Maintains parks and playground facilities
• Performs a variety of tasks as part of work crew.
• Participates in the clean up of work projects
• Repair and maintain streets and sidewalks, street signs and markings
• Maintains accurate work records, time sheets and other forms of data
