Job summary

Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation is seeking a Grounds Crew Leader to coordinate, supervise, and train staff in landscape construction, turf maintenance, and related duties across city sites. You will manage safety, records, and material deliveries.

The role is full time, outdoors in all weather, requires a valid driver’s license and pre-employment physical, and favors supervisory experience, horticultural knowledge, and experience with concrete/asphalt repairs.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED plus two (2) years’ experience, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity, in landscape maintenance, beautification, park or public lands construction and maintenance; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, supervise and train assigned personnel in landscape activities (construction, patches, repairs, removal, installation).
• Maintain turf, litter collection, chemical application, and playground maintenance at multiple sites.
• Document inspections, orders, and scheduling; manage tools and equipment; ensure safety standards.
