Job summary

City of Jacksonville, AR is seeking a skilled building maintenance worker to perform routine and specialized upkeep for all city facilities. The role focuses on maintaining infrastructure, systems, and safety in diverse buildings across the city.

You will handle tasks from light bulb replacement to major repairs, operate sprinkler systems, and prepare gym spaces for events, ensuring equipment stays in top condition and spaces are safe for public use.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical systems, and HVAC is required.
• Formal training or coursework in facility maintenance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor and major maintenance to city facilities as assigned.
• Replace light bulbs in all building areas as needed.
• Repair holes in walls and ceilings as needed.
• Install and remove gym floor coverings for special events.
• Operate, maintain and repair sprinkler systems around facilities.
• Ensure janitorial equipment such as buffers and vacuums are in proper working condition.

THIS POSITION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PERFORMING SKILLED BUILDING MAINTENANCE IN THE PRESERVATION AND UPKEEP OF ALL CITY BUILDINGS FOR THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• MAINTAINS FACILITES BY PERFORMING MINOR AND MAJOR MAINTENANCE IN ALL AREAS.
• REMOVE AND REPLACE ALL LIGHT BULBS IN ALL AREAS OF BUILDINGS AS NEEDED.
• REPAIRS HOLES IN WALLS AND CEILINGS IN BUILDINGS AS NEEDED.
• INSTALL AND REMOVE COVERING FOR GYM FLOOR FOR SPECIAL EVENTS.
• OPERATES, MAINTAINS AND REPAIRS SPRINKLER SYSTEM AROUND FACILITIES.
• ENSURES ALL JANITORIAL EQUIPMENT SUCH AS BUFFERS AND VACUUMS ARE IN PROPER OPERATING CONDITION.

QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE OF A SPECIALIZED FIELD SUCH AS BASIC PLUMBING, ELECTRIC, HVAC, ETC. EQUIVALENT OF FOUR YEARS IN HIGH SCHOOL PLUS NIGHT, TRADE EXTENSION, OR CORRESPONDENCE SCHOOL SPECIALIZED TRAINING, EQUAL TO TWO YEARS OF COLLEGE, PLUS 2 YEARS RELATED EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING, OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE.
