Job summary

City of San Marcos TX seeks a Parks/Facilities Specialist to supervise maintenance teams and act for the Crew Leader as needed. The role maintains 2,600+ acres of parks and open spaces through skilled equipment operation and comprehensive grounds and facility maintenance.

Responsibilities include grounds maintenance, irrigation/plumbing support, park construction, and event setups. CDL Class A requirement within 1 year; CLP within 90 days; Texas driver's license required.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of maintenance documentation and repair manuals.
• Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication with staff, vendors, and the public.
• Ability to work collaboratively under general supervision while exercising sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Operates light to heavy equipment to support maintenance, construction, and repair of City parks, facilities and public spaces.
• Performs grounds and landscape maintenance: mowing, debris removal, soil and turf management.
• Assists with irrigation installation, plumbing repairs, and park structure renovations.
• Participates in athletic field preparation and turf-care activities.
• Supports the Parks Maintenance Crew Leader by guiding other equipment operators and coordinating work.
• Leads setup for City-sponsored events, placing tents, tables, and chairs.
• Maintains maintenance documentation and supports related duties.
