Job summary

City of San Marcos, TX is seeking a Parks/Facilities Worker to maintain parks, recreation facilities, and downtown areas. The role involves operating light and medium equipment, performing grounds and facility maintenance, and supporting park construction and renovation projects.

You will assist with athletic field preparation, irrigation systems, and event setup for city-sponsored activities, ensuring safe, clean, and well-maintained public spaces for the community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of parks/grounds maintenance and/or related experience.
• Three (3) years of experience operating light to medium equipment.
• Valid Texas Driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Maintain lawns, turf areas, and landscaped spaces to ensure a clean and safe environment.
• Remove trash and debris from grounds and clean public restroom facilities.
• Operate light and medium maintenance equipment such as mowers, tractors, bucket trucks, and chippers, as well as power tools including chain saws, weed eaters, welders, and graffiti removal equipment.
• Apply pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers as needed for landscape care.
• Participate in soil and turf management practices.
• Perform maintenance, construction, and repair of park buildings, structures, and related public facilities.
• Assist with plumbing repairs and installation of irrigation systems.
• Prepare and maintain athletic fields for scheduled activities.
• Support City-sponsored events by assisting with setup of tents, tables, and chairs.
