Job summary

City of Athens, TX is seeking a parks maintenance worker to perform manual labor and semi-skilled tasks, including mowing, vegetation control, and general upkeep of city parks, open spaces, and facilities. You will operate mowing equipment and assist with routine repairs.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED is required.
Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License with a good driving record.
Three years of general maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

Mow grass and clear foliage; maintain plants, trees, shrubs and brush.
Maintain park equipment and facilities; assist with minor plumbing and electrical repairs; operate vehicles and tools including mowers and tractors.
Clean, organize, and inventory service areas; assist in preparation and facilitation of events.
Operate various small equipment and large vehicles.
Maintain vehicles and equipment in accordance with safety regulations and procedures.
Perform routine maintenance to equipment on a daily basis.
Identify and report mechanical problems requiring repair; on-call standby may be required.
Follow departmental policies and reports city code violations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
