Parks and Recreation Project Engineer (hybrid)

ms consultants, inc. is actively seeking a passionate Project Engineer to join our team in Columbus, Ohio. This position will support our Water Business Unit and contribute to planning and designing water infrastructure for both public and private clients. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on parks & recreation projects with an emphasis on water and wastewater infrastructure.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist project managers in the design and planning of parks & recreation projects, including engineering calculations, construction cost estimation, creation of construction plans, and preparation of technical reports.
  • Contribute to the design of site layouts, water and wastewater utility systems, grading plans, stormwater management facilities, and other infrastructure elements.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, design teams, regulatory agencies, and local government representatives throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in projects from initial planning and design phases through regulatory approvals, bidding, construction, and final facility openings.
  • Support bidding and construction services, including contractor selection, RFI management, submittals, shop drawing reviews, and ensuring design intent is communicated to contractors, through to project closeout.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or other relevant fields.
  • Capable of using spreadsheets, word processing and standard office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Qualifications:

  • Experience in water, wastewater, environmental, or municipal engineering services.
  • Experience with project planning, construction cost estimation, master planning, design of parks & recreation specific infrastructure, and construction administration.
  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Microsoft Projects, and MicroStation.
  • Successful Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) required
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License (or plans to take the exam within 12 months of hire)
