Job summary

Indianapolis Zoo is seeking a Parking Lot Attendant to engage visitors, answer questions, and provide directions with exceptional customer service. This part-time, mid-shift role involves friendly guest interactions, guiding attendees, and coordinating with Security to ensure a safe environment.

The ideal candidate will have past customer service experience, be comfortable with the public, and maintain a patient, positive demeanor while communicating clearly via two-way radio.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be comfortable interacting with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Must display good judgment and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and understand information using a two-way radio.

Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly, professional service to Zoo guests and staff.
  • Communicate effectively by speaking clearly and accurately.
  • Guide and direct guests in a detailed and pleasant manner.
  • Welcome and advise guests on bus shuttle arrival times.
  • Act as a guide by providing the safest path and instructions for guests.
  • Work closely with Security staff to maintain a safe environment for all guests.
  • Perform additional duties and/or other responsibilities as delegated by the Director of Security.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed by both staff and guests.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be comfortable working with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Must display good judgment skills and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and comprehend and decipher information accurately using a two-way radio.
Additional Information
  • This is a part-time variable hour, mid-shift (12:00PM - 8:30PM) position, scheduled to work 29 hours or less per week.
  • Frequent exposure to outdoor environmental conditions, which include inclement weather, cold and hot temperatures, and humidity.
  • Flexibility is needed due to changes in the crowd size and/or weather, this may include being asked to work beyond scheduled hours or working reduced hours. There is no guarantee of hours due to the unpredictability of weather and crowd size.
