Parking Enforcement Officer – Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Transportation and Parking Supervisor, the Parking Enforcement Officer enforces PCC parking rules and regulations through the issuance of parking citations. The officer interacts with students, staff, and the public regarding general parking matters, informs them of parking rules and regulations, reports maintenance issues and equipment problems, and performs related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Enforce parking policies, rules, and regulations outdoors.
  • Issue citations for parking violations.
  • Immobilize vehicles in accordance with department policy and supervisory direction.
  • Document and report parking lot safety hazards or areas needing repair.
  • Inform students, staff, and the public about parking rules and regulations.
  • Direct policy or appeal questions to the supervisor or office staff.
Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years old or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months of high-volume public-facing customer service experience.
  • Valid ClassC driver’s license with a good driving record; must complete PCC driver safety course.

  • Interpret, apply, explain, and enforce parking rules to staff, students, and the public.
  • Exercise sound judgment within established guidelines and supervisory direction.
  • Respond tactfully, clearly, concisely, and appropriately to inquiries.
  • Perform required duties accurately and timely.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Operate Android smartphones and desktop computers.
  • Work independently without supervision.
  • Lift, carry, and guide up to 30pounds safely.
Physical Demands & Working Environment

Must be willing to work evenings, weekend shifts, and as needed on an emergency basis. Must work outdoors in all weather conditions. Physical requirements include standing and walking for prolonged periods, occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and twisting, and operating equipment requiring repetitive hand movements and fine coordination. Vision and hearing within the normal range are required.

Compensation

Hourly rate:$15.95–$20.16. Employees may work up to 599 hours per fiscal year (casual employment category).
