Job summary

The City of Durango is hiring a Parking Enforcement Officer to join our Parking Division. In this role, you’ll patrol on foot and by vehicle, enforce parking ordinances, issue citations, and support a safe, welcoming downtown environment.

You’ll serve as a helpful resource for community members and visitors, report safety concerns, prepare records, and appear in Municipal Court to support citations as needed. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of experience in customer service, enforcement, or a related field.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with the public.
  • Comfortable using computers, handheld devices, and specialized enforcement software.
  • Ability to work independently and patrol assigned areas.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce City parking ordinances and issue citations when needed.
  • Patrol assigned areas on foot and by vehicle to monitor parking restrictions and time limits.
  • Provide directions, answer questions, and encourage compliance with parking and public space regulations.
  • Serve as a friendly, helpful resource for community members and visitors.
  • Appear in Municipal Court to support issued citations, as needed.
  • Operate and maintain enforcement tools, including citation and immobilization equipment.
  • Communicate with other departments by radio, phone, or email.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Respond to questions and concerns about parking regulations or equipment.
  • Report safety hazards or maintenance issues encountered while on patrol.

What You’ll Do in This Role:

You Have:
