Job description

This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Parking Division.

• Plans, allocates, and monitors time, people, equipment, and other resources of the Parking Enforcement Division; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
• Manages and directs the parking division, including all city parking garages and surface lots.
• Oversees the collection of revenue generated by the division; pursues all outstanding citations according to policy.
• Manages the Uptown Golf Cart Shuttle service ensuring the comfort and safety of passengers, delivering the riders to their destination on time, and ensuring clean and well-kept vehicles.
• Ensures that the division operates within budgetary restraints; prepares the annual budget request for the division.
• Ensures that Parking Enforcement Officers and Supervisor carries out their responsibilities as assigned; conducts field visits; performs employee evaluations.
• Ensures that all parking facilities are safe, secure, and well maintained.
• Logs and records all accidents and incidents occurring in the garages or on surface lots; prepares accident and incident reports.
• Addresses customer complaints and arbitrates disputes.
• Testifies in court on disputed tickets.
• Maintains a database of all parking stats for immediate use.
• Develops ordinances relating to parking and enforcement.
• Coordinates inmate details and the duties of the Correctional Officer.
• Develops and trains employees of the parking division.
• Writes citations in accordance with city policies and ordinances; oversees special event parking; appears in court as necessary; authorizes the booting of vehicles with outstanding violations.
• Attends conferences to stay informed of trends in parking.
• Performs monthly risk management duties for the city.
• Provides administrative support to Homeland Security Office in the event of evacuation transportation.
• Conducts continuous improvement projects in the area of parking enforcement.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in Transportation Management, Public or Business Administration, or a related field is required. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years experience or service. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, or walking. The employee frequently lifts light objects and distinguishes between shades of color. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
