Job summary

Corewell Health seeks a part-time Dispatch Coordinator for Security at the Butterworth campus in Grand Rapids. You will coordinate emergent and non-emergent security requests, dispatch Campus Security Officers, and monitor multiple safety technologies to ensure rapid response and safety for staff, patients, and visitors.

The role requires 20 hours per week, daytime shifts from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and a high school diploma with experience in security, dispatch, or customer service.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of security/dispatch experience or two years in customer service/call center.
  • 1 year of Microsoft Office experience.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains all pertinent incident information and communicates to responding parties.
  • Prioritizes calls for service based on urgency and initiates action.
  • Operates and monitors security systems including video, alarms, and radio communications.
  • Completes 20 hours of Continuing Dispatch Education per year after hire.

Acts as a liaison between Staff, Patients, and Visitors by dispatching Campus Security Officers to routine and emergency calls for service. Receives and coordinates radio and telephone communications for Corewell Health. Prioritizes calls for service based on urgency and initiates appropriate action. Queries callers to obtain detailed incident information, records all officer duties and activities via our Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD). Operates and monitors multiple security system technologies including systems for video management, access control, panic/duress, infant protection, fire alarms, medical emergency code system, and 800MHz radio communication. Performs security technology system preventative maintenance checks, system troubleshooting, and initiates work orders to address identified issues. Notifies appropriate supervisors, managers, leadership, and/or business assurance of critical alarms or incidents on a 24-hour basis.

Essential Functions
  • Obtains all pertinent incident information and accurately communicates to responding parties.
  • Prioritizes calls for service based on urgency and initiates appropriate action.
  • Operates and monitors multiple security systems technologies including video, alarm systems, medical emergency code system, and 800MHz radio communication.
  • 20 hours of Continuing Dispatch Education (CDE) required per year once hired.
Qualifications
Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of relevant experience Security, Emergency, Medical, or Facilities Dispatch Communication experience or two combined years of customer service, call center, or dispatching experience
  • 1 year of relevant experience with Microsoft Office
Preferred
  • Associate's Degree in Facilities, Criminal Justice, Security, Public Administration, Emergency Management or equivalent
  • 1 year of relevant experience working knowledge of security systems technology (video management, access control, and radio communications system)
  • 1 year of relevant experience Emergency Telecommunicator Certification (ETC)
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Patient Transport Upon Hire Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Patient Transport Upon Hire
