General Definition of Work: Performs intermediate human support work, conducting surveillance of school property, ensuring the security of the school and students, enforcing the established rules and regulations, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the assigned supervisor.
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work occasionally required standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
General knowledge of practices concerning the protection of school buildings and grounds; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to recognize and identify activities or situations which have or may become a problem or emergency requiring immediate attention; ability to think and act quickly, effectively and responsibly under emergency situations; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, students, teachers and the general public. A high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate is required.
