Job summary

The Town of Wellesley Department of Public Works seeks an Assistant Superintendent for the Park and Tree Division to plan, supervise, and direct the Park and Tree Program. The role serves as advisor to Town boards and the public, ensuring safe and compliant operations.

Responsibilities include leading division personnel, coordinating programs, and administering applicable Massachusetts regulations. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in arboriculture, urban forestry, park administration or equivalent.
• 5+ years in arboriculture and landscape management or equivalent.
• Massachusetts pesticide license and ISA/MA certifications.
• Experience with hazard tree identification and utility tree clearance programs.
• Strong leadership and public relations abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, instruct and train division personnel.
• Manage and implement the Park and Tree Program.
• Plan, schedule, and direct day-to-day operations.
• Coordinate programs with Town boards, commissions, and public.
• Act as Town Arborist and Deputy Tree Warden when needed.
• Administer MGL Chapters 45, 87, and 132.
